Well, sort of sadly, I got a "new" HP 4050TN printer recently from decommissioned migration stuff, and thar fore retiring my faithful Laser jet 5MP. Sad

This is a old skool HP printer. I.e. one of the types of printers that HP built their name on before they started making gay drivers. This particular model was spotless loike new when I rescued it from being scrapped for a newer sexier model a few years back, as it was living on an elderly PA's desk for 8 years. Since then it has lived in a cupboard where I had cabled it in for concealment, but has regular use.

It has been maintained and looks damn near enough brand new.

It has nearly full ORIGINAL HP toner cartridge installed, and I also have another ORIGINAL HP unayned toner in the box. To give you an idea, I have the toner in thar  a year or two at least and its nowhere near half empty. So if you are using an ink jet regularly, just think bno cartridge costs for about 2 or three years with average use. (bear in mind this is Black and White)

Its not the quickest printer, but its solid, well maintained (i'm an IT professional after all Cheesy) and reliable. I'd say cheap to run as well, but it will be a few years before you are loikely to need to spend money on consumables. Spec below.

Please note this is a PARALLEL CABLE printer (pls check your PC has one), but I will also include the JET DIRECT unit  which will mean you can plug it into your network, and preconfigure it for your network if required. you then plug the parallel cable into the network instead of in the back of a PC.

I'm offering for £80 all in or enar offers.(with the 1.5 toner carts and the Jetdirect box). Remember, original HP toners for this printer are much sought after and go for £80 each on their own. But I am looking for a good home for this fantastic printer, so dont use it as a Sell on.
Possibly free P&P, or you can arrange pickup yourself with parcelforce.

if bno one wants it, it will go on E-bay for over £100.

See specs for dimensions. It has a large foot print if you are used to inkjets, hence why I cabled it into a cupboard.

yup.

The 4 and 5's were the last good HP's. The 6's were OK.... but even now, if I have print driver problems its aHPLJ 4 or 4plus driver blol.

aye they're a dream those drivers.... =)

we've let fuckers buy the 2320 mfp devices from HP , to install on a users machine ( have to do it locally because it installs a scanner for the cunts too ) you have to disable AV , Firewall & restart the printer so their machines can detect it ... what a pile of wank!

also the later HP drivers have soem weird snmp check ..so if the snmp port isnt contactableit puts the printer offline...(but not offline as well!) you have to go to properties./ports./config./ a dn disable SNMP..

also...must turn off "advanced printer features" in citrix especially. is bad. Ting is..that was the whole point of "driver only " downloads... you dont want the fluffy shit.

I really dont understand why HP though universal print drivers was a good idea. They only needed to speak to any citrix experienced it pro. Nail the printers down one by one and MANAGE THEM.

thar  is bno golden bullet bno matter how much "management" thinks printing will "..just sort itself out"/quote

aye terday one of the AX developers came to me with a printer problem -- appears that rather than use my carefully managed and workign printerson the print server, he set on up on the apps server. and it was offline even though it wasnt offline.!!!

I told him he shouldnt be setting up printers on apps servers. he says he needs it for testing.

I take one look , disable SNMP, and bingo, it works.

I leave him sitting thar  looking confused.

I repeaed, ...he shouldnt be setting up printers on apps servers if he doesnt know what he is doing.

I then deleted the printer.

He didnt complain. I guess he couldnt. Cheesy
