Latest news,,, lot of people not impressed with going back to WWII.

Even more, even less impressed that it will be made by the makers of COD3  !

Quote

Did you know that World War II took place in more locations than Europe? Modern video gaming and filmmaking sure don't.

We reported earlier about a rumor that Activision had handed Call of Duty 5 to Treyarch, makers of the certainly sub-stellar Call of Duty 3, and that it'll be set in WWII again.

According to a tipster at Kotaku, the above is all true with the addition that the focus will be of the Pacific theater (we were at war with Japan, too).

That softens the blow a little bit. If COD 5 would have been another muddy Normandy game I might've just scratched my eyes out. The entire Pacific campaign of the war has been tragically ignored in gaming, perhaps because of gaming's strong ties with modern Japan. If it's done well, it could be pretty interesting.

That means carpet-bombing paradisal islands and launching artillery attacks from giant Navy battleships, nothing less.

I do loike my WWII games of any genre a lot....fps/strategy whatever, so Aye! good news for me. Though having said that, i think thar  have been a lot more interesting games in the European theater than the pacific one. Lets hope COD5 gets it right.

Cod 4's getting pretty boring tbh so I'm just looking forward to the BF boys doing their stuff in the future. Cod4 maps are just too small and thar  is a lack of height to the game as you cant scale many high points.

was thinking the same....but games are never the same when you go back to them.

one of the reasons why i did the games list  ws to work out the server / player rations for certain games..

cod4 at 0.4 explains why its  a struggle to fill the server.

i agree...the maps are a bit limited but it was the same with cs (especially sauce). We did have a lot of good times a few months ago when so many people were on......... seems to have died down a bit now-  but I do hope it doesn't turn into another relic elephant

I played BF 2 last night for a few hours and really enjoyed it again. I had trouble with the controls but got them sorted and didn't do too bad.

Doh!

I panicked too when it asked for the password icon_redface but after a few try's I got it right.
I need to D/L from somewhere as I dont have a sub anywhere at the moment.
